Professor Pyrowise is a ghostly Pyro TF2 Freak created by YouTube user OluapPlayer.

Appearance

Professor Pyrowise appears as a legless Pyro with a Apparition's Aspect for a head. He wears a Ghastlierest Gibus, a Whiskered Gentleman, a Coffin Kit and a Cremator's Conscience. His Cremator's Conscience is a symbol of his neutrality, as he lives in Limbo and is therefore neutral to both good and evil.

While Pyrowise makes common Pyro sounds when speaking, his dialog is always accompanied by subtitles, and he can always be understood by other characters.

Biography

Many years ago, Professor Pyrowise was an intellectual Pyro professor who loved to explore unknown locations in search of rare treasures and hats with his assistant Jenkins. In one of these expeditions, Pyrowise traveled to the inner regions of a dark cave in Australia, where he eventually came across a room filled with Australium-made treasures.

Pyrowise explored the room, fascinated with his discovery, until he came across the most valuable treasure of all: a Golden Towering Pillar of Hats, lying in the top of a human-shaped statue. Upon removing the hat from the statue, however, Pyrowise accidentally released a great evil; the statue gained life, apparently being trapped by the hat, and then attacked Pyrowise, breaking his neck and killing him. Pyrowise had released the BLU Nnnngh Sniper into the world.

When he next gained consciousness, Pyrowise found himself in the underworld as a ghost. Almost immediately, he wondered how he could benefit from this. Pyrowise's soul would somehow get a position of power in the Underworld, and eventually he became the place's gatekeeper.

Personality and Behavior

Personality-wise, Pyrowise is an elderly gentleman who enjoys a good cup of tea. He has a high liking for hats, especially tophats. He is known to be friends with some TF2 Halloween bosses, specifically the Headless Horseless Horsemann and Monoculus, as they are frequent visitors of the Underworld. He has a certain level of arrogance due to his noble background, which leads him to look down on other Underworld souls and TF2 Freaks as being "hooligans".

He enjoys the company of the dead Jenkins, though he is annoyed when his student acts mischievously, and generally acts more causally to Underworld recidivists like Stu Pidface. He is, however, inconvenienced by Infierno appearing and tempting souls into accidentally being sucked into Hell.

Powers and Abilities

Pyrowise in his current state is not a combatant and does not engage other TF2 Freaks, but he generally has no reason to do so to begin with. Being a ghost, he is effectively immune to harm, as attacks would simply pass through him, and he cannot be killed any further than he already is. Because the Underworld nullifies special abilities of the people who go there, Pyrowise also has no need to worry about TF2 Freaks using their powers against him.

The only power Pyrowise has displayed is being able to teleport in order to travel long distances in the Underworld; this teleport is known to make a loud, ethereal thunder sound.

In life, Pyrowise was a melee combatant and was seen wielding a battleaxe when fighting the stone guardians of the Australian temple. He presumably no longer engages in such as a ghost.

Faults and Weaknesses

Pyrowise is, by design, not meant to fight other TF2 Freaks.

  • He has no displayed any offensive abilities as a ghost.
  • Weapons made to combat the undead may prove able to bypass his ghostly invulnerability to harm.
  • In life, he was only as strong as a common Pyro, far beneath the level of other TF2 Freaks.
